Mechanical development at MEDtech Engineer

Many projects at MEDtech Ingenieur are handled by the entire team – including hardware, software, mechanics, systems engineering, and quality management. The beauty of developing such (complete) systems is the involvement of the individual disciplines in the development process. The close collaboration is very valuable, as it positively influences the project and allows all employees to gain valuable experience and broaden their horizons.
In addition to (complete) system developments, we also work on projects in various areas and develop mechanics for a wide range of applications.

With this article, we would like to give you an insight into how we work on mechanical projects and how we can support you.
Whether individual components, assemblies or complete systems, depending on your needs, we can assist you right up to taking over the entire development process.

Development process

Our mechanical development process can be generally divided into the following phases, extending all the way to supporting the product in series production. Depending on the needs of the respective phases, we create various documents such as specifications, risk analyses, test specifications, FMEAs, etc. We adhere to regulatory requirements and work in a meticulous and structured manner.
If you would also like to obtain approval, we would be happy to assist you.

Depending on your needs, we can support you throughout the entire process or just in certain areas.

Tools in mechanical development

For CAD design, we primarily use PTC Creo Parametric, but we also have experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or AutoCAD. Please feel free to contact us if you use another system in your company. Using Creo, we create individual components, assemblies, and drawings and have the option of performing various additional functions such as simulations and collision checks. We can also create realistic representations for you, which you can use for presentations and marketing purposes, for example. By reviewing the CAD data, we ensure a design that is appropriate for production, materials, and costs.

For the creation of samples and prototypes, we work with various partners who, with their diverse technologies, can supply parts for every budget and quality requirement. We always keep an eye on the latest developments in prototype and series production to deliver the best possible results.
Whether you're looking for prototyping, functional models, series development, or process/part optimization, please feel free to contact us. We can also advise you on materials technology and surface treatment.

Customer exchange

Communication with our customers—that is, you!—is very important to us. To ensure regular, high-quality communication, we use common CAD exchange formats in mechanical development. We also use general document formats (e.g., 3D PDF) to communicate with you if you or some of your colleagues don't have access to CAD software/viewers.

Experience

At MEDtech Ingenieur, we have been providing mechanical engineering support for over two years, and our employees bring more than 10 years of experience in mechanical development and CAD design. We have experience in designing with plastics, metals, and elastic materials for a wide variety of products and applications.
One of our development projects is the mechanism for a high-precision gait analysis system for telemedical care of patients with gait disorders. The challenge was to make the small sensor as unobtrusive as possible. The system (see images) can be securely and easily mounted on various shoes. The image shows the mount for the sensor, which is attached to the shoe.

Intuitive labeling makes it immediately clear to the user which shoe the system should be attached to. Here you can see a sensor for the right leg, which connects to the mount shown in the image above.

If you need support with mechanical development or design, please contact us. We'd be happy to assist you!

Best regards

Eva Maier
