There's a lot to do in hardware development. It's easy to lose track of what's already done and what's still open. Therefore, it's helpful to have an overview that shows the status at a glance. Such a status overview is valuable not only for the developer themselves, but also for the project manager or system architect. It allows you to quickly grasp the development status and better estimate the remaining work.

I like to work with checklists and cockpit charts that can be printed on a single A4 page. I'd like to share my template here. The illustration below shows what such a table might look like.

I create such an overview for each assembly together with the developer. The developer maintains the document himself and it's particularly useful when the hardware is commissioned and tested.
This list is very valuable for planning and organization, and I highly recommend you try it out. Of course, you can adapt the status overview to your needs. The template is available for download as an Excel spreadsheet.
I welcome feedback and would love for you to contact me. Feel free to leave a comment on the article. If you know someone who might also be interested in the blog, I'd be very happy if you would recommend it.
